Classical WETA

When I lived in Boston we had such amazing public radio. When I moved to DC 10 years ago I thought I would lose that great classical programming. But, I had WETA and it is a lifesaver day in and day out. The app does what I need, streams their great programming. I even finally became a contributor through donations.

It comes up quickly which is good. But the playlist starts at 12:00 AM. I go to WETA, usually in the evening, to learn what is playing now and to learn what is coming the rest of the evening. I don’t want to have to scroll the playlist from early morning through all the day to get to what is coming next. The online website is better. Also the app lists the current musical item and the playlist box in small, small letters. They are almost lost among all the advertised items on the screen. I am less interested in those ads. For all these reasons, I don’t use this app.

I got this app for two reasons: to see what is playing now on WETA FM; and to see what is coming up to be played. Unfortunately, the program schedule they provide is not 24 hours, it’s for a calendar day. Regardless of when you check the app, you get program info only for the present time through 12 midnight. Since I usually tune in at 11:30 pm, that means I have no idea what’s going to be played for most of my listening time. Therefore, the app is of very little use to me.

I have used this app all over the U.S., not just in the D.C. area and have been very satirized with it in all times and all locations. The music provided is easy to access and of great quality. The only weakness in my opinion is that the app itself is a bit busy; there are a few too many things going on for my liking. In all other aspects, it’s a wonderful app for anyone who appreciates classical music.

I absolutely love listening to Classical WETA! Sitting down with my coffee or tea makes my work days or days off feel relaxed and helps me stay productive! Not to mention all the great announcers, loved this app for years and would definitely recommend it!
