ClareHome

ClareHome is the first smart home application I have used and I must admit I was intimidated at first, but not for long. The process for adding new devices is really quick and simple, each device pairing to my system within seconds of putting them into pairing mode. All of this functionality built into a single app makes setting up my own smart home far less daunting that I assumed. As far as I can tell the ClareHome app succeeds where other smart home apps fail by offering features free of service fees, the ability to add my own devices and customize my system from my phone, and integration into so many third party devices out of box. I’m very happy with this application and look forward to seeing what updates Clare has in store going forward.

We just recently closed on our home & Clare doorbell was a part of the promotional package we selected. I was pretty excited about it because I have friends that have The Ring & it seemed pretty cool. The technician came on 7/24 to install & knew how to operate the system with his phone (older generation iPhone), but not on my iPhone 8 Plus. He placed a couple of calls for suggestions & was told to have me Reset my phone, Reset network settings, disconnect & reconnect to WiFi, turn on notification (duh), but nothing worked. Notifications were hit or miss & never received the doorbell notification. He told me that maybe I should just ask for my money back or give it a couple of days & see if it worked & if not, call customer support. I called customer support & was told, yeah, the technician called & we need to escalate to engineering & you’ll hear back in 2 days. It’s been over a week & apparently engineering is still trying to figure it out. I called today (8 days later) & was told that it hasn’t been figured out & I will definitely receive a follow up call tomorrow. I’LL WAIT!!! I’m thinking that I can’t bet he only person with the service with an iPhone 8 Plus or maybe I am & the service isn’t as great as the offer sounded.

Just updated to the long anticipated and past due update. I must say I am whole heartedly disappointed. Very little was changed. Hardly any new features were added and only slight UI changes that I would not call an improvement. The icons for scenes are still a joke. Why can’t we create our own? Or just more icons that make sense. Also it seems no system improvements were made, every aspect of the app is as slow as ever. There was no improvement to the schedules feature which needed it most. I waited so long for this after I was promised it would get better. I switched from Vivint because the builder of our new home was contracted with a company that used Clare systems. I am seriously regretting switching. Clare’s app development and systems are light years behind the competition. No Apple Watch app, no 3D Touch integration. Why do the icons on the home screen need to be so large? I could go on and on. Is this seriously what took so long to develop? I am seriously dumbfounded. I’m waiting for another release any moment that has all the new features with an ‘April Fools’ tag line.

We just bought a new home that had Clare Controls installed. After talking to our new neighbors we were excited to check it out. We connected the App and the systems connected automatically. Not sure how it did but it DID! All of the devices worked great. I felt like a kid again with a new toy. My wife and I played around with the App for about an hour or so. We left to go shopping and tried to log in remotely an with out a problem. This is the kind of system we were looking for. We will recommend this product to all my friends and family members. Turning lights on and off, arming / disarming security and making sure the doors are locked while away from the house gives peace of mind. We absolutely love it!

Have been pretty disappointed in Clare controls since it was installed. The lights sometimes respond to my commands. Sometimes the lights will come on, then automatically decrease to 50% brightness. Some nights I’ll turn the lights off and then 5 minutes later, they’ll come back on again. Dealing with this all through the night. Trying to figure out if it’s Clare or maybe an uninvited spirit trying to scare me. BUT after the app update, I can no longer use some of my devices, it’s time to go to another company. Oh and the app appearance is worse. It cuts off the names of the switches so I can’t tell if I’m turning on the living room pendant or the living room sconces until I tap the icon. First world problems but still, a problem. Currently deactivating my devices.
