For general information on sexually transmitted infections (STIs), refer to https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases.html This application provides Canadian health professionals with up-to-date recommendations for the screening, diagnosis, management, and treatment of STIs, including recommendations for antibiotic-resistant gonorrhea, in a convenient, concise, and easy to use format. It has been developed from the 2010 version of the Canadian Guidelines on Sexually Transmitted Infections (Guidelines) (http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/std-mts/sti-its/index-eng.php) and revised content from 2013 to 2016. These updates reflect emerging issues/trends affecting the management of STIs in Canada. Up-to-date information from other complementary resources has also been incorporated, including key recommendations from the HIV Screening and Testing Guide (2012) and the Management of Hepatitis B - Quick Reference (2013). The content is reflective of the most current evidence for the management of uncomplicated STIs in adults and youth only. It does not contain information for the management of STIs in pregnant women, children, neonates or complicated infections. This application is intended to provide information to public health and clinical professionals and does not supersede any provincial/territorial legislative, regulatory, policy and practice requirements or professional guidelines that govern the practice of health professionals in their respective jurisdictions, whose recommendations may differ due to local epidemiology or context.
