Capital One UK

I’ve noticed since updating to iOS 12, any apps in portrait-only mode (as this Capital One is) looks awful now. It doesn’t fill the entire screen like it did before (width wise I mean; I’m well aware of the 1x and 2x options) and the text isn’t sharp. It’s basically taking what is effectively the 1x view (i.e. small window) - which is nice sharp text - and zooming that for 2x zoom, which then goes blocky looking. Like zooming in on a low-res image which then pixelates. Whether or not this is CapitalOne’s fault I’m not entirely sure because this weird compatibility view type scenario is happening in other portrait-only apps. I’m just reporting what I see. Aside from that, everything else about it works as intended. 4 stars from me because I do like the app still (and is perfect on my Galaxy S8) and whatever anyone else may say, I personally like Capital One and how they’ve treated me.

This is a good app in general but it does have some fundamental flaws. Firstly you brought out an update to allow users to view their pin on the app and it has not worked at all for me. Every time I go to the spot it should be, I get message saying it’ll be there when the bugs have been worked out. You should have worked the bugs out before launching the update. Secondly your payment plan option does not appear either. Although I do not personally need it , it is good to know I can use the app to set one up instead of having to spend 30 minutes on the phone. At least it would be good to know if you bothered to put it on the screen. Thirdly it seems to take at least 3 times as long to register that I have made a payment on the app. Other similar apps register a payment within a few hours of it being registered by my bank. I.e. if my account shows the money has gone out Monday evening, the app will show the payment received by Tuesday morning. This is not true of this app. Two other apps registered payments three and two days earlier that capital one despite the fact that they were all paid on the same day and capital one has the earliest payment date. It seems like the app has been designed to encourage late payments. If these three fundamental issues were sorted then this would be a 4/5 star app but at the moment it’s 1/2 star.

complete & utter rubbish. still no access to view PIN, let alone change it. no messaging. no way to raise chargebacks or fraud. no way to block merchants/transactions. no way to set up regular payments to merchants. slow to credit balances. (2 'working' days is a joke in the 21st century) no way to use basic income 2.0 (created in 2010) to repay card balances. insulting card limits & no way to raise them to useful level (could be secured by ubi 2.0). no affinity card programs in the UK. no complaint or feedback procedure. a new project lead is required, current manager is tired, & without imagination or vision. he/she is overpaid & underworked. the app is wasted opportunity. credit wise is a tragedy: inaccurate & the app offers no way to add notes, update address information, link addresses or names. another wasted opportunity. we could have had a new service, taking cashflow & assets into account. instead, capitalone uk show total lack of imagination, vision or drive to be anything but an insult to their own customers. over 1 million people unemployed in the uk but call centres abroad? why not secure in-app video calls with call takers in the uk? and why not use siri to interact with the app? why not use alexa?

Awesome update! Finally brings things we have been asking for for so long. The best feature by far is that any tile a purchase is made, you get an instant notification on your mobile showing the merchant and amount. Beautiful. The app has improved very well over time, and it’s almost perfect. But here is what is needed to make it perfect. 1. When you have just one Capital One card, this works fine. The problem is when you have multiple accounts. On the opening screen, it shows you a list of all your accounts. Great, but I have three. Just to see my balance, I have to go into each one individually, each one has to go through security such as FaceID, after a while it is just tedious. Why can’t on the list view, it show the balance and available credit? 2. Have the ability to view statements with the ability to share straight from the app. That was I can email them to myself. This should be quite easy to implement as every single one of my credit card providers have this feature. 3. Urgently add Apple Pay support. This alone will make this app worth of 5 stars.

App is good for checking summary of card activity, and looks easy to use if you need to activate a new card or report a card lost/stolen (I have as yet not needed to use either of these functions). However, there are issues: - I cannot access my personal details via the app to check/amend them; every time I have tried to do this (in both iOS 10 and 11), I receive an on-screen message saying ‘Please call us. We were unable to retrieve your personal details’. Therefore, to be able to access/amend personal details I therefore have to continue using the website. - Sometimes, Touch ID does not work - the Touch ID screen does not appear at all, or it appears but then rejects my fingerprint (despite this working without issue on other sites/apps where Touch ID is enabled).
