The app and interface work fine. The indoor cameras are decent, picture quality could be better and other systems have a few more options than these do but I haven’t noticed a serious need for them. The outside camera is junk. I haven’t had this thing a year yet and it’s already quirky. The battery doesn’t hold a charge, it won’t recharge. It pops on and off signal all the time. I have a wifi booster 20 feet away from the camera in a window and I’ve moved it as close as I possibly can but it still pops on and off WiFi. The outdoor camera does not have night mode like the inside cameras do. So what’s the point? No one trapes around outside of your house in broad daylight. The sensor on it is iffy. I have it set to the most sensitive and you still have to be 10 feet away for it to trigger. So it’s not very reliable unless you have the video up on your phone constantly and then all you are doing is draining that battery that is junk. Let me know when you put more into the outdoor camera and make it better. Otherwise I’ll figure out how to set up and indoor camera facing outside, so it can have window glare.

Like I said in the title, it’s completely useless to record actual activity in your home when there is a person and you can’t watch it live. Obviously people are not always in front of the camera. But if my camera notices a person and even notifies me of one why wouldn’t it continue recording after the movement? For like two minutes at least? And a minute leading up to it? There’s stuff happening outside the frame!? Sometimes it switches modes when arriving home, most times it doesn't. So I always have to open the app when leaving and arriving at home. I usually don't have my hands free at these points in my day (nor is it why I bought the system in the first place). Customer service told me to increase the geofence radius. Didn’t help. I got home 10 minutes ago, am connected to WiFi, stood in front of the camera a while, went to have a wee, and just got another notification of a person at home when I reentered the kitchen...

I bought several of these and they work great at first then after first week devices started randomly going offline for no reason and ok , no big deal because i was still receiving notifications that device went offline. Now a month later the devices are going offline and either sending notifications up to 30 min later or currently now not sending me notifications on my phone in app AT ALL. How is that security?! total waste of money im feeling now ...and/or its a scam and things don't work right unless u also pay for monthly service. Im very unhappy and if i could return them i would. Im going to look into that 2morrow. What a disappointment. Oh ya and besides that issue they also go offline and when they were sending notifications it would send device back online notification b4 the offline one . Lol. And one device has never worked properly keeps unpairing from my device snd going offline. If i were you, whoever is reading this .... best spend your money on something that is actually RELIABLE

My canary is a worthless paperweight. They offered many other features when I first bought and then poof they became paid features shortly after I bought at the much higher price point. Now the geofence will not work correctly on my husbands phone. It’s doesn’t correctly identify when he comes and goes. He can be sitting in the house, phone not moving and it will say he left, then he returned several times without touching his phone. Now it won’t even identify him leaving at all, as if he’s home all the time. So when we are both gone the system never activates away mode correctly to secure my home to take video if necessary. I have contacted customer support several times but the only means of support is email, no phone support. Very inconvenient because by the time they reply days later it never fixes the problem with the solutions they try to give you. I have tried removing my husbands app and reinstalling, also removing as a user and reinviting, I have also tried correcting geofence which by the way never changed and settings in the first place. So frustrated.

Canary as a concept is great. The price is good. What’s terrible is the way this company has designed the app. It’s extremely slow to connect, and sometimes it doesn’t until you force close the app and try again. By comparison, our Arlo connects quickly and so does the Ring doorbell. I’ve let support know in the past. However, it was blamed on WiFi slowness. I have gigabit Internet through Cox, so I know that can’t be it. And Arlo and Ring both have no issues. Clearly the issue with with THIS system. I’m sure someone will reply to this to have me contact support so they can point out the inadequacy of my gigabit Internet instead of acknowledge that Canary is the problem. Also, they have an awesome geo fencing feature that puts the unit into away mode if everyone is gone. But ... everyone connected to the app has full access to change settings, view all videos, delete videos, and even remove the device. There is no concept of an administrator. This ... in modern day is not very good. These guys are behind the curb in every way imaginable. They excel at absolutely nothing.
