Calculator 2: The Game

Sounds like a dull idea for a game, doing sums for fun right? Wrong whilst it’s doing maths yes it’s not your everyday high school maths. Cunningly devious and intricate maths based puzzles, utilising simple rules of manipulation. Sounds simple ? Well it starts off fairly simple and then gets progressively more challenging as it goes on, will keep even math phobics entertained. Wonderful 8 bit style graphics and lovely retro sounds which include wonderful one channel sounds and great key click sounds reminiscent of old calculators of the 70s and 80s. The idea is to save the world from a nasty computer virus by doing maths puzzles, perhaps not the most plausible plot but come on, simple pure gold entertainment.

Love this game. Definitely recommend; would be 5 star if glitches were sorted. Developers, did you know that the inv10 button turns up in the game before it’s been introduced? It’s in somewhere around level 158 or 159, not introduced by the calculator thing until level 160. Also, there is a glitch where the buttons stick. I am on level 198 and the mirror button keeps getting stuck down. Every time this happens, you have to close and restart the game, losing all the progress of the level. It is happening every time I play for me, making the game impossible to complete. Please fix!

Love this game; simple concept with good scale of challenge and lots of replay ability with the daily challenges. I have a problem with the hints, though. On one of the daily challenges, I was stuck on one part so I watched 6 ads to get hints. It then gave me hints for one of the parts I had *already solved*. Fix this, please. It’s then a 5-star app for me.

I really wanted to pay for this game, to reward developers for their efforts. All I hoped was to try before I buy to check it’s a game I like. I’m only a few levels in but I’m constantly interrupted by 30 second adverts. I’ve totally been turned off what might be a great game by the fact that I can’t get into it due to the constant interruptions. So developers please, either make your games £2.99 (or whatever) to start. Or if you make them free with payment to remove adverts, at least don’t bombard your customers before they get a chance to see if they like it.

By the time you're a few dozen levels in, some of the puzzles take considerable thought. Whilst it may well be aimed at younger players or perhaps those of all ages who have less experience or confidence with their sums, it will get gently and progressively more challenging However, it has suddenly lost all progress and for reasons unknown has put me back to level 1 with no way to jump back to where I had been.
