5.0Children hear a phrase or sentence, see text and a picture introducing each of the 40 Dolch Pre-Kindergarten Sight Words and 52 Dolch Kindergarten Sight Words. Quizzes allow children to repeatedly quiz the same word or quiz a random sampling of words, earning a gold coin for a successful first answer, a silver coin for success on a second try. A piggy bank cues a screen displaying total coins won. The table of contents will show, beside each word, from one to five gold stars for correct first answers in a row without any mistakes. We plan soon to add Sight Words for 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and nouns. Secret Kid Stuff emphasizes phonics principles by tutoring children in Pig Latin, a traditional language game which allows children to communicate among themselves. The game reinforces phonetic principles by training children to recognize the first phoneme of a word, such as the ‘b’ in ‘boy’, place it at the end of the word, and then add the ‘ay’ sound, ‘oy-bay’.
