Block Busters - Gem of Arena

For those that enjoy “bubble popper” games this game is a pretty good hit. It adds competitiveness by integrating 3 different kind of multiplayer modes - with the added power ups that you gain as you level up and purchase from the store. I wouldn’t consider it pay to win- not yet, at least. Yes, it does have the option to speed up the upgrading process of the cards (power ups) by using rubies (purchased with real money), but this is something you can also achieve for free by simply playing. It might take a little longer, but it is doable. Not to mention, there’s daily rewards that provide you rubies. This is a new game, it has several bugs here and there. There’s also a lack of information on things, such as the chances of getting higher cards from purchasing it with gold. But - it has potential. I’ll stick with this game and see where it goes.

I think this game is pretty amazing and the concept is super fun, but I feel as if the rng having to do with the blocks that spawn on each side of the field is weird. You can get a much worse layout than the other person making it harder to win in some situations. Perhaps randomizing the block formation but giving it to both players to deal with might be a better idea rather than giving both players different layouts. I’m not quite sure if that would help but that’s definitely one of the more unfun parts of the game. The game is pretty free to play friendly opposed to other games, so I have no problem with that. But it’s just so frustrating having to deal with no wiggle room while the other guy is sitting there with every easy block in the game to destroy.

This game is very fun at first. Lots of things to do and good goals to achieve. But once you get to the higher ranks, it takes forever to load (my average now is about ~26 seconds per game). I recently made it to the “Legend V” level, which is the highest level you can get, and now there’s nothing left for me to do. It says we’re in “Season 1” but there’s over 200 days left in the season (which is an incredibly long time compared to other games), and I don’t plan on waiting that long for more achievements to earn. It was fun while it lasted, but there’s an end date.

Don’t listen to the naysayers. I haven’t spent a dime on this game and have made it to Platinum I using primarily “normal” rank cards. Yes, there is an RNG element to the blocks as you and your opponents do not start with the same rows. There’s strategy to the game, and a lot comes down to how well you know your geometry and timing. There can be an abundance of the metal blocks, but those are not a glitch in the game, simply the other opponent(s) out-comboing you. I’d give it a full five stars, but I do believe that some of the daily quests are a bit tedious, and at least one of them needs re-naming as it reads “play a match with only rare cards” when in fact you have to win the match to get credit for it.

I just started playing this game 2 days ago and just reached gold today. As soon as I got gold, I clicked on the pack reward (for reaching gold) and the game crashed. Now every time I try to get back into the game, my screen just stays black after I click the “start” button. Really unfortunate because I was beginning to enjoy this game very much. :/ EDIT: I fixed the constant black screen of death by reinstalling the app. (Thankfully my account was saved so no data lost). But now the app is telling me to download an update and when I go to the app page for this game, there is no update! Now I’m back to being unable to play the game once again because of this constant loop of loading... sigh. FIX. YOUR. GAME. RED POTION.
