Barclaycard

Find the app really easy to use. Convenient that my credit score is calculated for free and automatically updated every 2 months. Also they will Notify me through emails well before my payment date. Credit limit can be increased and decreased, personal details can be edited, PIN number can be viewed through the app also, which is handy if like me purchase aren't what I usually use the card for. As other have stated, when I make a payment, it doesn't update for a few days, so will still show as payment due. I pay mine through direct debit so I just check through my own bank, and I know the payment has went through when it has left my account! Apart from that, I have no faults with the app at all, and actually find it really good, can organise everything through just that app, no need to phone anyone and waste time! Also I will sometimes receive notifications of offers like money transfers and balance transfers which can be set up through the app within minutes. Honestly no complaints here! 😀

The app itself when you actually can get in works fine. The first problem that arises is that the first time I tried to set it up took almost 45 mins. You have to enter a ton of security information (which is not a bad thing considering it’s a banking app) but while setting up it keeps telling you it’s saving your progress. LIES, It kept crashing then you have to start from beginning again every time, to the point where it wouldn’t let me continue anymore and I had to waste even more time calling them to set it up over phone. The ridiculous part from my review title comes from when you finally have it set up and you get a new phone, if you download the app to a new phone you have to go through the entire set up again with a whole new set of security measures. I’ve never used an app (including other banking apps) that make you do an entirely new set up just because you change device, your log in details shouldn’t have to change just because the app is on a new phone. I asked using their messaging service on the website why I had to do this and got 3 generic responses that were clearly cut and pasted from a script saying I had to call them (had no intention of wasting my time calling them) then they passed my question on as a complaint and after about 8 months they finally replied with another generic response that any new device has to be set up with new log in details. Most pointless app I’ve ever seen and a complete waste of time

Good app, updates in real time. Problems - my credit limit isn’t big enough £3500 so I have to make payment before the direct debit is due. When I make payment from my Santander account I have to approve in the Santander App. When I do this and come back to the Barclaycard app to confirm, the Barclaycard app has reset (even though it was left open) and forgotten it was waiting for me to verify the payment. Therefore, I need to use two devices for the payment. One with the Barclaycard app open and the other with the Santander app open. I am sure most of us don’t carry two phones. Great that you can take out cash up to your cash limit (1000£) but if you then need more cash you will need to pay off your statement balance to reset. This happens within 24 hrs. Then you can take out more cash. If you try to purchase something exceeding your credit limit, even by 5£ the transaction is refused. Good text messaging feedback from app on transactions. Generally after 6 months usage you can request your credit limit is increased through the App.

This app is better than it was. I like that I can now view my statements although it’s help and contact facilities are rubbish and it’s FAQs don’t address the issues I have with the app. Two or three times a year is messes up my payments. It only lets me pay a balance that doesn’t match the amount needed that month. Usually it messes up by only letting me make last months payment amount again. Which means if it is larger this month my full payment can’t be made and they charge me interest on the remainder or if it is smaller it won’t let me pay at all because it is over what the page wrongly thinks is my payment amount. When I go to my statement page I can see the correct amount but the payment page won’t let me pay it. I have found work around by using the specified amount box but usually I have to phone up their expensive call line to make my payments when this happens. After years of this happening I am getting really quite annoyed as I reported this bug to them years ago. It happened again this month and the FAQ and contact pages still don’t help me. I’m not a happy bunny!

Have been a customer for years and the app was 5 stars! Easy to use log in and do as I wanted. Since they updated the end of 2019 it logged me out of the app asking me to register again. After multiple attempts my credit card number would not be accepted, spent hours on the phone being passed from department to department. I was then eventually told that I needed a pinsentry device, which is required by all customers but not sent out until one is requested by the customer yet the customer doesn’t know they need one until they can’t log in 🤔. After multiple attempts of trying to explain that this does not seem to be the issue for me as the app was not asking for me to use a pinsentry, or any option to on the app relating to it, they said they would send me a pinsentry then to call and go through it all again. 7 months later and after ordering one 3 time’s I’m still without a pinsentry or access to the app meaning that anytime I want to pay a bill or access to my account I have to log in on the website which is a considerably longer process than opening an app!
