Ballet Barre Exercises

This app has 12 short videos that cover moves such as plié, tendu, frappe, etc. This is not a fitness workout, but rather reinforces the beginning ballet bar moves you learned while taking a ballet class. You can choose which moves you want to see and watch a 20 sec video and read a description. In app purchase of more routines available. Select from 3 classical songs to play along while you are doing the moves.

Won't let me get the combos

I'm pretty happy with this. The video needs to be able to be turned sideways. I like that I can use my own music, but wish the video would include an 8 count with the exercises. I can figure it out, but wanted to recommend this to some girls who may need a bit of assistance in that. I'm not sure it's worth $3, although that's still cheaper than a dance class. I hope a few more exercises will be added for more advanced dancers.

I love to have other examples for my students to look at when they are away from the ballet school. I thought this app would be helpful but I completely regret downloading this app. Although the dancer has the right idea in the combination, her technique, turnout, and port de bra are not good examples for those who are wanting to learn and improve as dancers. It is much harder to learn and practice bad technique and then have to fix it later on. I suggest the "ballet is fun" app. The dancers have very good technique and the app contains at least 60 more videos and definitions for both male and female dancers.

I have been dancing for 12 years and have seen ballet companies perform from all over the world. I thought this would be nice to have so I could practice over break. However, it's not worth the time or money. The exercises are beginner at best. The dancer doing the exercises is making a good effort, but has bad technique. It isn't a good idea for any dancer to watch and absorb bad habits, as it can lead to problems in more difficult steps as well as greater chances of injury.
