ASWB Social Work Exam Prep

I used the ASWB Prep App. It’s $100 but worth it. Mainly because as you progress through the ebook it repeats things in a logical way so it reinforces what you already read which improves the chances of remembering it. Then after you read a section you can go do the diagnostic questions which further reinforces what you have just read. Plus the diagnostic questions give you and explanation which tell you how to answer various types of questions. This further reinforces the information. I highly suggest the app if used according to how memory works.

Having the app is useful, but it is unfortunate that I cannot sync my progress. The app does not allow you to pick up where you left off and navigating the different sections can be confusing if you are not sure where you are. The content should be more fluid and one should have the option of continuing to study the material without backtracking to the main menu. Also, please add “pick up where left off” option. While I found the reminders helpful, it is pointless if I don’t know where to pick up. Following and studying the content in the book was much easier.

I thought the app would be a supplement to the book with additional questions, so even though I bought the comprehensive hard copies of the study books, I wasn’t given full access to the app unless I bought that too. What a disappointment! The app is super clunky and offers nothing in addition to the books. I was going through the app’s diagnostic questions and then learned they were the SAME questions as the additional practice test in one of the study books which I had been saving to take! I am so bummed, I feel like I wasted money. If you are only using the app it’s fine, but if you get the books, it’s not worth the purchase.

I like the app. I would like it more if it had the ability to bookmark my last spot. As of now, it starts you over each time. The app doesn’t allow for notes either. One thing that kind of bothered the OCD in me is how one part of the app is not written in the order of the actual book. I noticed it because it confused me with my orders note cards when I got to that section. Overall, it’s handy to have when you don’t want the book, or to supplement the it. I keep the book by me so I can write notes and keep up with where I ended my last session.

I bought the premium version of this app because of the additional diagnostic questions specified for each unit. Not worth it. The questions are formulated poorly and I found them to be incomplete. I purchased the study guide provided by the ASWB and the questions are nothing like the unit diagnostic questions here. The study material is good. However, you cannot save your reading progress, make notes, or highlight desired paragraphs if you chose to. The only benefit I really see to purchasing this is if you cannot sit down to read the book.
