ASK Brooklyn Museum

This is a great app! First time visiting the museum we decided to follow a scavenger hunt in one of the exhibits (infinite blue). The response time was less than a minute. We were asked the ages of the participants so that the clues could be adapted appropriately. It is a great exhibit for the clues given the wide range of genres and time periods of the pieces. When we answered each clue we got additional information about that particular price and its history. It was fantastic. Unfortunately my son woke up from his nap and we had to leave. But if it were up to me I would've stayed and continued. I highly recommend this for ALL ages.

I downloaded the Ask BKN app thinking it would be along the lines of those I have used at other museums, but I got much more than I was expecting! The app gives you instant access to a team of experts from the Museum who can answer questions or add more information about any exhibit you take an interest in. The team are friendly, the response time was super quick, and the app worked seamlessly - because of the app I ended up staying much longer at the museum than I originally planned and learned a great deal more than I anticipated. The app is fantastic! It allowed me to ask questions of professionals in a non-intimidating way without the fear of "looking stupid" or worrying about asking a "stupid question." I had responses to my questions within a minute or two and was able to have a conversation as opposed to getting a pithy, canned answer to a generic question. It allowed me to explore things that I was specifically interested in rather than having to listen to a guided tour that highlighted pieces of less interest to me. Fantastic app, great team of people staffing it, and a super effective way to engage more deeply as a museum goer.

This app is great. Do you know when you go to museums and some people have friends to talk about art? But most of the time, those friends get too carried away and start explaining every...SINGLE...thing, even if you don't to hear it anymore, to the point that they are being a nudge. This app is the opposite, this app is the friend that only talks to you when you want them to. And a friend that is intelligent and makes you think, accepts your insights and no question is a dumb question. I don't get jealous if I go to the BAM alone anymore. I've got the BAM Ask app now :)

I was told about the app in the museum and was able to download it during my visit using the museum's free wifi. I asked a simple question, got a notice that the question was received, and then the question was answered within about 10 minutes. My follow - up comment was responded to immediately. The Museum responses were friendly. I look forward to using the app on another visit - especially if I have a burning question I can't find an answer to (or a comment I want to share with the Museum).
